Privacy Policy.
Prox is a real-life proximity voice chat app. The product principle is simple: as little data as possible, kept for as little time as possible, and never sold or used for advertising. This policy is kept in sync with the in-app version inside Prox.

What Prox collects
Prox uses Sign in with Apple or email/password to create your account. We store your account identity, email address when you choose email sign-in, username, selected or uploaded avatar, date of birth for the 13+ gate, voice disclosure acceptance, session state, safety reports, blocks, and app events needed to operate and protect the service.
Location and voice
Your device sends location while Prox is open so the server can place you in nearby voice rooms and show your radius. The server stores coarse presence data and never sends exact other-user locations to clients. Voice is live through LiveKit for nearby chat. Prox does not record voice rooms.
Processors and sharing
Prox uses Convex for backend data and file storage, LiveKit for live voice transport, Apple for Sign in with Apple, Resend-compatible email delivery for password reset codes, and PostHog for privacy-limited product analytics. We do not sell personal data, run ads, or use collected data to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Controls
You can deny or later disable location and microphone access in iOS Settings, but nearby voice requires those permissions while Prox is open. You can mute yourself, mute others locally, block users, report safety issues, sign out, or delete your account from Settings.
Safety and deletion
Blocks, reports, and moderation actions are stored so Prox can protect users. Deleting your account removes your profile, presence, geospatial point, uploaded avatars, blocks, sessions, and app events from Prox, and queues deletion of linked PostHog analytics data. Reports involving your account may be kept in anonymized or safety-preserving form for moderation continuity, including information needed to enforce bans.
