Real-life proximity chat · iOS TestFlight open

Proximity chat, but in real life.

You know the voice chat in games where you can only hear people standing near you? Prox is that, for the real world. Open the app and you’re in a live room with everyone within a few hundred meters of you. Walk into a café, you fade in. Step outside, you fade out. No friends list. No DMs. Just talk to the humans you can already see.

How Prox works

Three steps. No friends required.

Same idea as proximity chat in games — your radius decides who you hear. You don’t pick a room, schedule a call, or add anyone. Prox figures out who’s near you and connects you. That’s the whole thing.

Step 01

📍Open the app, wherever you are.

Prox uses your location to figure out who else has the app open near you. No setting up a profile. No adding friends. You just open it.

Step 02

👥You're in the bubble with the nearest people.

If 5 people are within 200m of you, you all share one voice channel. If you're alone in the woods, Prox quietly expands the radius until it finds a group worth talking to.

Step 03

🎙️You just talk. Like you're in the same room.

Open the app and your mic is on. Walk away and you fade out. Someone walks in, they fade in. No taps, no joining, no scheduling. Voice chat for real life.

Why Prox

It’s not another chat app. It’s the room you’re standing in.

Prox was built for one feeling — overhearing a great conversation next to you and being able to join it. Everything below exists to protect that feeling.

🌍

Not a social network.

There's no profile to maintain, no follower count, nobody to friend. Prox doesn't remember who you talked to yesterday — and neither does anyone else.

🤫

Voice is never recorded.

Audio is live and gone. We can't replay it, summarize it, or feed it to an AI. The conversation only exists while you're in it.

📡

It just works wherever you are.

The radius shrinks in a crowded café and stretches across a quiet beach. You don't pick where you are — Prox does the math.

🚫

Block once, gone forever.

One tap removes someone from your bubble for life. No one ever sees a list of who you blocked. Mute is per-room, block is forever.

🗺️

Nobody's map shows you.

Other people never see your dot on a map. They see a list of who's near them — and you never share an address, a name, or a path.

👋

Walk in, walk out.

Leave the radius and the room forgets you. Walk back in and it picks up like you never left. It's the dynamic of a real room, not a chatroom.

Made for going outside

Built for the moments a screen ruins.

The internet’s great when you’re bored at home. Prox is for everywhere else.

  • At a coffee shop
Compliment the laptop sticker without standing up.
  • 🎓
    On a college quad
Find the 6 people in the same lecture, instantly.
  • 🎤
    Outside a concert
Talk to the line. Argue about the setlist.
  • 🏖️
    On a beach
The radius stretches. Six people up the coast become your bubble.
  • 🚆
    On a long train
Open it. Pass the time with whoever's in your car.
  • 🎉
    At a party
Find the smoking section without screaming over the music.

Things Prox doesn’t do.

The whole app is built around one idea: when you walk out of a room, it should feel like you walked out of a room. Here’s what that means in practice.

We never record your voice.

Audio is live-only. There's no replay button, no transcript, no archive. Even we can't go back and listen.

Your location stays on our server.

Other users never see your dot on a map. They see a list of people near them, and you're somewhere on it. That's it.

There's no friend graph.

Prox doesn't store who you talked to. No mutuals, no recents, no DMs. Each room ends when you leave it.

We don't sell anything to anyone.

No ads. No data licensing deals. We use limited product analytics to understand reliability and growth, not to track you across other apps or sites.
